A quick update on some of our present projects:

Our THDA Housing Grant has started the first stage of construction. The purpose of the $375,000.00 Grant is to repair or renovate housing problems for the low income, elderly and disabled of our community. The repairs or projects are limited to a $40,000.00 limit per dwelling. Grant Writer Amanda Mainord is overseeing the project. The typical project might be a new roof, repairs to the Heating and Air system, ADA ramps, flooring or windows, etc. This project helps those whose need extends beyond their economic capability. We want to express our thanks to Amanda Mainord for writing and administrating the grant and to the applicants for their patience as the repairs are completed.

Our $315,000.00 CDBG Grant in the Pall Mall Community nears completion. The project itself is moving slower than we anticipated due to weather delays. The Grant’s purpose is to provide an Emergency Shelter adjacent to the Pall Mall Volunteer Fire Department. We want to thank 2nd District Commissioners Kim Davidson and J.P. Reagan as well as Fentress County Grant Writer Amanda Mainord for their vision and determination in completing this project.

Emergency Management Director James Bilbrey with the help of Justice Center Facilities Manager Dwain Matthews and Fentress County Jail Trustees have completed the renovation of the Fentress County Helipad behind the Fentress County Hospital. A new paint job coupled with new signage has made the pad more readily visible to pilots, especially during inclement weather conditions.

Additionally, EMA Director Bilbrey and the County Executive’s Office have requested generators and another Emergency Communications Tower from TEMA. We were informed last week that we are in line to receive two Generators and two 60 foot Communications Towers at no cost to the county. (The Towers should effectively solve any communications problems that our Emergency Services still experience at times). We do however, have to go get them and transport them back to Fentress County.

We can be reached at 879-7713. Executive Assistant Amanda Hicks can also be reached at vog.n1527140719Tytnu1527140719oCsse1527140719rtneF1527140719@skci1527140719H.adn1527140719amA1527140719. County Commission Meetings are held every third Monday at 6:00 p.m. following a 5:00 o’clock work session. All meetings are open to the public.
