Last Thursday, several of us from Fentress County attended the TDOT Public Hearing held at North Cumberland Elementary School in Cumberland County to discuss prospective plans for the Highway 127 Project from I-40 to Fentress County. With a packed house, many Cumberland County and Fentress County residents expressed frustration and anger at TDOT’s plans to drop from a four-lane divided highway to a two-lane road for the middle stretch of the project. It was pointed out that a two-lane road did not meet the needs of Fentress or Cumberland County. Traffic flow, safety and economic development were pointed out to TDOT officials. All public comments were recorded for future considerations. People were also given a comment sheet that can be mailed to TDOT. Anyone interested in responding to TDOT can pick up a Comment Sheet from the County Executive’s Office in the Fentress County Courthouse. We encourage as many as possible to respond.
We can be reached at 879-7713. Executive Assistant Amanda Hicks can also be reached at vog.n1527142482Tytnu1527142482oCsse1527142482rtneF1527142482@skci1527142482H.adn1527142482amA1527142482. This month’s County Commission Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m. following a 4:30 work session. Monday the nineteenth is a President’s Day, a Federal holiday. All meetings are open to the public.
