Shout Outs for Halloween-on-the-Square: For those who missed it (evidently not many of you), this was the biggest ever.

Shout Out #1: The Ladies from the Fentress County Finance Department. Their love of Halloween, Children, Decorations, Costumes and Entertainment is phenomenal. Similar to my old love of Coaching, I’m sure that as soon as the event was over, they were already plotting how to make it better next year. Hats off to a great effort Ladies.

Shout Out #2: To the Parents and Children of Fentress and several surrounding counties. Several estimates placed the crowd to be between 4,000 and 5,000 strong. Way to represent. A safe and interactive way to “Trick or Treat”.

Shout Out #3: Phillip Hall, and our local churches. Several Local Churches provided “Bouncy Houses”, Movies, Entertainment and Snacks for kids and parents. A great family friendly atmosphere for everyone. Thanks to Phillip for organizing this portion of Halloween on the Square.

Shout Out #4: Hats off to Justin and Courtney Miller for providing the sound system for Halloween-on-the-Square. The music and line dancing in the streets provided an added level of entertainment to the event. Thanks JCM Entertainment.

Shout Out #5: Sponsors. The 45-50 Businesses, Offices, Organizations and Elected Officials who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this great community wide event. They offered Time, Energy, $$$ and Manpower mixed with a generous portion of “Love of Community” to their efforts. Hats off to our Sponsors.

Shout Out #6: To Joel Ross and Family and Staff. Each year they take Halloween to a new level. Great Themes mixed with Fun, Entertainment, Professionalism, and an Exciting and New approach each year. Thanks guys. Can’t wait to see what next year holds.

Shout Out #7: Last but not least; Thanks to my staff, Executive Assistant Amanda Hicks with Staff Member Marla Allen and VSO Jeff Tinch for providing the Ideas, Vision, Creativity and Energy to pull off a different theme each year. Oh, by the way, not bragging, but we did win first place in the decorating contest this year. Great Job guys.

County Commission meetings are held every third Monday at 6:00 p.m. following a 5:00 o’clock work session. All meetings are open to the public.
