From the Desk of

J. Michael Cross County Executive

We are very happy to announce that property tax payments can now be made online. Only cash or check payments can be made in the Trustee’s Office. We want to commend County Trustee Wanda Tompkins and her staff for making this service possible. Additionally, the Trustee’s Office does accept partial payments as well with no minimum. We also want to remind everyone of Fentress County’s Tax Relief Program. Tax Relief is for anyone 65 or older, anyone who is approved for disability, or anyone who qualifies as a 100% permanent and total disabled veteran or widow/widower of a disabled veteran. To be eligible for relief, qualified citizens should come to the Trustee’s Office to apply. Income limits do apply for both the elderly and disabled. Please contact the Trustee’s Office for more details. The deadline to apply for the Tax Relief Program is April 1.

Fentress County and the City of Jamestown continue to accept application for the THDA Home Grant Project. The county and city both received $375,000.00 in home improvement grants. For eligibility requirements, please contact Executive Assistant Amanda Hicks in the County Executive’s Office at 879-7713 or City of Jamestown personnel at City Hall. Each applicant may apply for up to $40,000.00 in repairs. Repairs may include heating/air, roofing, ramps, decks or porches, flooring and more. We will continue to make applications available through the end of the month. The deadline for applying is September 30 at 4:00 p.m.

In October, we will be attending the Governor’s Conference in Nashville. This year’s theme is “Team Tennessee”. Joining Governor Bill Haslam, TNECD Commissioner Randy Boyd and other state officials will recognize efforts in economic development throughout the state. Members of the Fentress County Chamber of Commerce will receive recognition for the “Beautification Grant” they received to help restore the west side of the courthouse. We look forward to representing Fentress County and meeting and sharing ideas with leaders from other counties.

We can be reached at 879-7713. Executive Assistant Amanda Hicks can also be reached at ten.s1500749669ekalw1500749669t@skc1500749669ihadn1500749669ama1500749669.
